2011 Nov 01Yearbook of Agricultural Statistics: year 2011
Agriculture in Burundi is the main activity both in terms of the number of people it mobilizes and in terms of its food supply and the income it provides. However, the lack of data in this area represents one of the main obstacles to better planning for agricultural development. Thus, in order to provide the user with most of the information available on the agricultural sector, ISTEEBU regularly produces national agricultural production statistics (ISTEEBU Yearbook of Agricultural Statistics), in particular with regard to the most important crops.
The statistical data presented in this yearbook relate to:
- Food production year by year and season by season except for the year 2004 when there are only annual totals;
- The branches associated with the agricultural sector (livestock, fishing and forestry);
- Cash crops (coffee, cotton, tea, tea, sugar cane, rice, oil
palm and cinchona).
