Les ressources forestières comprennent les forêts naturelles dont la plupart sont érigées en aires protégées, les boisements en plein, les arbres hors forêts. Ces ressources jouent un rôle important aussi bien sur le plan environnemental que sur le plan socio-économique.

En effet, le secteur forestier contribue à 2% pour la formation du PIB ; le bois de feux et le charbon de bois contribuent à plus de 95% de l’énergie consommée dans le Pays ; les ressources forestières sont également exploitées à des fins de construction, d’ameublement, de santé, de matériel didactique, touristique et environnemental, etc. Malheureusement, ces ressources sont menacées de dégradation.
