Lors de la mise en oeuvre du projet "Biodiversité" conjointement financé par le Gouvernement du Burundi, le PNUD et le FEM, les ménages riverains des parcs nationaux de la Kibira et Ruvubu ont bénéficié des activités génératrices de revenus (AGR) en vue de préserver les ressources naturelles de ces parcs. C'est dans ce cadre que le projet a commandité une étude socio-économique pour évaluer son impact sur la vie des ménages bénéficiaires.
