![Le bassin de Malagarazi est situé dans la partie sud-est du Burundi et la partie nord-ouest de la Tanzanie [1,2]. Son bassin versant couvre plus de 50 % du bassin du lac Tanganyika (LT), y compris le bassin du lac Kivu [2,3]. Elle est située à une altitude comprise entre environ 2500 m, à la source de certains de ses affluents de la rive gauche au Burundi, et 776 m, où elle se jette dans le LT (Figure 1).
